A sleeveless layer for the part of winter when a coat is too much and knitwear on its own is not enough.

The cloth is an Italian-woven wool cashmere flannel with a small amount of stretch. Wool gives it structure and warmth, cashmere softens the hand, and a water-resistant finish helps it shrug off rain. Lightweight insulation carries it through cold weather, and the cut is regular. A two-way front zip, welt pockets and an elasticated drawcord hem handle the practical side, with the hem adjustable for a closer fit.

Wear it over knitwear on its own, or under a coat when the temperature drops further. Charcoal melange keeps it neutral enough for a commute and quiet enough for a weekend. It is the layer that stays in the car through February and gets used every time.
