Shirts, Trousers & Outerwear is the tailored and structured half of Mens Collection, the men's clothing store on New Utrecht Avenue in Brooklyn, New York — collared shirts, knitted jumpers, trousers, blazers, jackets and coats.
The shirts split two ways. Oxford cotton, fabric-washed, is the everyday one: soft from the first wear, equally at home under a jumper or on its own with the sleeves rolled. Brushed cotton flannel is the cold-weather answer, and stretch poplin is the smart one, cut slim to stay flat under a jacket.
Knitwear runs from extra-fine merino crew necks and half zips through to cashmere. Merino is light, smooth and breathable, which is what makes it layer without bulk. Cashmere is the warmer, softer end of the same idea.
Trousers are cut straight — textured wool, wool cashmere flannel, cotton linen for summer, and a cotton drill five-pocket that stands in for jeans. Several pair with a matching blazer when a full outfit is wanted.
Outerwear covers the year: a corduroy Harrington and a Japanese denim jacket for spring, gilets and flannel blazers through winter, and cotton macs — Ventile and showerproof — for the days the forecast gets wrong.
